Hi Liam,
I just want to say in writing how thrilled I am with the standard of workmanship of my deck.
It is so thrilling to walk out on to something so beautiful – in particular that its been an emotional roller coster ride given the behaviour of the previous builder.
The extra height was a great suggestion as this seems to add ‘flow’ and continuity to the living area which now seems more spacious overall with the perfect ‘flow’.

Once again, I do appreciate your work and the extra time you have given me with regard to sorting out the ‘disaster’ deck which you had to demolish, a bit of a sad undertaking for us all, but I am thrilled that I had such good advise from you and now compared with the superior standard of the deck you built I can see how that decision was the only one to make under the circumstances.
I look forward to the final stage of the deck and the undertaking of the ‘smaller internal jobs’ next Monday.

Jill and I had plans prepared by an architect to carry out alterations and additions to our home at 82 Sylvan Avenue. The proposed work was comprised of four separate parts.
1. The addition of an elevated deck of 4 metres x 3 metres with a new French door accessing the deck from the dining area.
2. An excavation under the house to accommodate an entry foyer from the basement garage, an internal stairway leading from the foyer to the living area and the addition of a storage areaand laundry off the foyer.
3. A renovated bathroom.
4. An extension and modernisation of the kitchen.
We asked Liam Scully of Rockwood Constructionto give us quotation to carry out the work for each of the first two parts. His quotation was detailed to the extent that it covered all of the work required to complete each project as detailed in the drawings and as approved by the building consent. The quotation was for supply of all materials and labour including the engagement of and work of the other trade contractors. We were provided with a start date and expected period of duration.
His quotation for both parts was accepted and a written contract agreed to.
The work commenced on time and was carried out completely to our satisfaction.
Liam kept us fully informed of the overall progress and what to expect in the next few days. The excavation under the house and the associated building work was complex particularly because of the existing housesupport structure and the need to create an area that felt welcoming and spacious. Liam and his team were sensitive to this need and advised on the options that could be employed to meet this end. There was never any attitude that the work would be built to the plans without considering the outcome. Always wherechanges could be made to the construction method or the finished appearance these were drawn to our attention, discussed and advised and then with us for our decision. Invariably the suggestions were sound and where adopted resulted in improvements to both the appearance of and soundness of the finished work.
We continued to live in our home during the duration of the work and at all times were given the utmost consideration from everyone working on our home to minimise disruption to us. In addition the building site was left clean and tidy at the end of each day, leaving us with the feeling we weren’t living or camping in a building site
We have been so satisfied with all aspects of the completed work and the costing that we have negotiated with Liam to carry put the remainder of our project.
